Case Study: Real-Time Fleet & Dispatch Engine

iTrust Rapid Logistics is a full-lifecycle shipment management platform purpose-built for the Nigerian freight and courier ecosystem. As Lead Full-Stack Engineer, I architected the core infrastructure, transforming design specs into an operational command center handling dispatching, real-time rider tracking, and customer communication.

The Engineering Challenge

Logistics operations in urban African cities face severe networking volatility, variable cellular bandwidth, and heavy concurrent tracking requests. The system required:

• Bi-directional Live GPS Telemetry: Broadcasting high-frequency rider coordinates to customer tracking portals without overwhelming relational database write limits.
• Strict Multi-Tenant Security: Enforcing strict separation between Super Admins, Branch Dispatchers, Riders, and End Customers.
• Automated Multichannel Alerts: Sending real-time milestone alerts via WhatsApp and transactional email during high packet-drop scenarios.

Key Technical Implementations

• Adaptive Telemetry Throttling: Implemented client-side spatial buffering on mobile rider apps, transmitting location updates only on significant delta movement to conserve cellular data and CPU.
• Twilio WhatsApp Webhook Automation: Configured asynchronous queue workers to trigger instantaneous WhatsApp dispatch notifications on status changes (Picked Up, In Transit, Delivered).
• Granular Role Access Control (RBAC): Engineered scoped query middleware ensuring dispatchers only view assigned hub manifests while corporate auditors retain global reporting access.
